The Hybrid Games UK has cancelled the Sunday portion of its Farnborough event scheduled for April 11–12, 2026, giving athletes one week’s notice. As of publication, the company has not posted a clear public announcement of the cancellation on its Instagram account
Athletes first identified the change after The Hybrid Games UK posted a course map on April 3 labeled only “April 11th,” with no reference to a Sunday race.
“Only just realised the event was cancelled reading the comments. Just checked my emails and found out that way,” wrote one athlete. “Unfortunately will get a refund and stick to hyrox.”
Multiple competitors reported they had already booked hotels, arranged childcare, and requested time off work specifically for the Sunday competition date.
“Absolutely disgusting you’ve cancelled Sunday now got take Friday off work which I won’t get paid for as it’s short notice rebook hotels really taken the places to race but can’t even go ahead with already booked places absolute shit show,” wrote one registered athlete.
Another competitor said the cancellation left them “currently a few hundred quid down on a hotel, attempting to change childcare last minute, change the day booked off work to another.”

Pattern of Cancellations
This is at least the second reported event cancellation involving The Hybrid Games. Several competitors who received complimentary tickets as compensation for that earlier cancellation said they had registered for the now-cancelled Farnborough Sunday event.
“I had a complimentary ticket because you moved the last event, an arrangement I cleared with Dale personally and here you are doing the EXACT same thing again with ONE week’s notice,” wrote one athlete. “I’ve spent months training, booked hotels, arranged childcare and sacrificed time with my kids and my job for this. To cancel all that hard work over a ‘buzz’ is a pathetic, horrific excuse. You claim to be the better alternative to Hyrox, but you’ve shown you’re exactly the same. You should be ashamed of how you treat the competitors who actually support you.”
One commenter wrote: “stick with HYROX, this company cancelled their last event too, not being enough ‘buzz’ and now are not responding to the athletes who have paid and trained to attend.”

The Saturday portion of the Farnborough event remains scheduled to proceed at Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre. According to the registration page viewed earlier this week, tickets for the Male Solo category were priced at £95 plus a £10.54 fee.
New Ownership, Unresolved Debts
The cancellation comes as The Hybrid Games operates under new ownership following a corporate restructuring and insolvency filing.
On March 19, Behrens Group announced it had taken ownership of The Hybrid Games after Walker James Limited, the company that operated all Hybrid Games events throughout 2025, filed notice of intention to enter administration on March 4. Zane Collins of Rushtons Insolvency Limited was appointed as administrator.
That insolvency filing left more than £54,000 in reported vendor claims remain unresolved. Unpaid invoices documented in county court judgments and vendor statements include:
- £25,000 owed to Event Flooring Solutions for the Newcastle, Glasgow, and London Olympia events
- £15,674 to Allen Transport for the Glasgow event (County Court Judgment obtained December 2025)
- More than £13,000 to an audio-visual vendor for the Newcastle event
- £912 to an additional creditor (County Court Judgment filed January 2026)
All invoices were billed to Walker James Limited, which is now in administration. Under UK insolvency law, unsecured creditors typically recover only a portion of what they are owed, if anything, after secured lenders and administrative costs.
Public filings show that Sir Jacob Behrens & Sons Limited held debentures over both Walker James Limited and The Hybrid Games Events Limited as of November 18, 2025. A debenture is a form of secured lending that gives the lender priority claims over company assets if debts cannot be repaid.
No Response to Requests for Comment
The Hybrid Games did not respond to multiple requests for comment sent in recent weeks regarding the Behrens acquisition, outstanding vendor debts, and operational questions. The company blocked Hybrid Fitness Media on Instagram and has not responded to inquiries since early March.
The April 3 Instagram post announcing the Farnborough course layout received 195 likes and 45 comments within three hours of posting. Several athletes expressed support for the event, while others voiced frustration over the Sunday cancellation and concerns about communication.
When one athlete asked about wave times and lane designations, a Hybrid Games representative responded in the comments about course details but did not address questions about the Sunday cancellation or refund processing timelines.
It remains unclear how the new ownership structure will address ongoing operational concerns, including event communication and outstanding vendor claims.
Hybrid Fitness Media will continue to report as more information becomes available.
***Additional comments reviewed after initial publication reinforce the same pattern, athletes reporting they only became aware of the cancellation through comments or delayed emails, along with last-minute impacts including lost hotel costs, childcare changes, and unpaid time off work. Multiple commenters also say they have not received direct responses despite reaching out.
