Mike Melby, the co-founder of FitLab Inc., is building an international football ownership portfolio through a separate investment company, Sunday Ventures.
In a June 19, 2026 announcement, members of Hibernians FC in Malta approved a deal for Sunday Ventures to become the club’s majority owner, subject to closing.
Sunday Ventures says it invested in Italian club Cesena FC in mid-2023 and ultimately acquired a majority stake. On its website, the company describes itself as a multi-club ownership group and says it is in the process of acquiring clubs in the United States and Brazil.
The company’s stated strategy centers on clubs in desirable markets with established community ties, strong fan bases and player-development potential. It also emphasizes sports science, data, athlete development and global brand building.
Cesena is the first publicly established club in that strategy. Sunday Ventures says the club won the 2023/24 Serie C championship and earned promotion to Serie B within a year of its investment. Italian reporting has described Sunday Ventures as acquiring a 70 percent stake in Cesena’s ownership vehicle, with reported investment figures in the roughly €8 million to €10 million range.

Sunday Ventures has also moved toward majority ownership of Hibernians FC in Malta. Under the proposed structure approved by Hibernians members, Sunday Ventures would hold the majority stake, the Bezzina family would retain a minority interest, and 10 percent would be held by the Hibernians Members’ Foundation. The club said the transaction was expected to close in the following weeks.
In its announcement, Hibernians described the deal as part of a plan to provide capital, sporting expertise and a longer-term international strategy for the club. Sunday Ventures’ planned role in the transaction included Mike Melby serving as chairman, according to the club.
The football activity comes as FitLab, which owns Ragnar, Assault Fitness and other fitness brands, faces a growing list of financial questions. Hybrid Fitness Media has reported on canceled Ragnar events, vendors alleging unpaid invoices, missed payment deadlines involving race venues, payroll-related concerns and public records involving tax liens, lawsuits and high-cost financing.
FitLab and Sunday Ventures are separate businesses. Hybrid Fitness Media has found no public evidence that FitLab funds were used for Sunday Ventures’ football investments, or that Sunday Ventures’ investments are available to address FitLab’s obligations.
Still, the public record shows Melby operating across two acquisition-focused portfolios at the same time: FitLab’s fitness and wellness holdings, and Sunday Ventures’ expanding football strategy.
Hybrid Fitness Media has reached out to Melby for comment and had not received a response as of publication.
