HYROX Updates Elite Rules Ahead of Phoenix Major

HYROX has sent updated guidance to Elite athletes ahead of the Phoenix race covering race kit requirements, nationality representation, and the Elite invitation process.

HYROX supplies official PUMA Elite race kits, including athlete surname and national flag. Athletes may choose to wear sponsor-produced race kit, but color is no longer optional.

Athletes who have already qualified for the World Championships will be assigned plum-colored kit. Athletes who have not yet qualified will be assigned black.

“If you plan to wear race kit other than the HYROX issued kit, you must adhere to the same colour allocation as outlined above.”

The requirement applies to both tops and bottoms. A standard elite pre-race gear check will take place. Athletes who are not compliant will be required to change. Failure to do so will result in the athlete being unable to start.

HYROX says the policy is intended “to elevate the production value of Elite races, which in turn benefits all athletes, partners, and the sport as a whole.”

Athletes with sponsors producing race kit are permitted to submit proposed designs to HYROX in advance for review.

Nationality requirements were also clarified. All race entries, leaderboards, and race kit, including national flags, must reflect an athlete’s passport nationality. Sovereign groupings such as the United Kingdom are not permitted. Athletes holding multiple passports must select one nationality and remain consistent.

HYROX noted that nationality alignment will be particularly important as the organization transitions to a points-based qualification framework next season.

HYROX also reiterated its Elite invitation process.

“Once received, athletes will have strictly 24 hours to confirm acceptance. If no response is received within this window, the position will be considered forfeited and will automatically roll down to the next eligible athlete.”

No additional clarification was provided regarding when the 24-hour window begins or how time zones are handled for athletes based outside the sender’s region.

More updates to the Elite qualification framework are expected soon.
