How the Race Unfolded

Dexter Buchanan controlled the early race, building his lead on the sleds. He posted a 2:14 sled push and 3:11 sled pull, the fastest combination in the field, opening a gap through the first three stations.

Behind him, the race stayed tight. James Kelly, Jonathon Wynn, and Greg Lewis all remained within striking distance through the first half, with no major separation outside of Buchanan’s early advantage.

The race flipped on the sandbag lunges.

Kelly ran a 2:34, taking roughly 30 seconds out of Buchanan, who slowed to 3:04. Wynn (2:55) and Lewis (2:49) held steady but couldn’t match the move. Coming out of lunges, Kelly had moved into the lead for the first time.

From there, the gap widened.

Kelly extended his lead on the run into wall balls and entered the final station ahead. Buchanan, who had led most of the race, entered later and lost additional time on wall balls, where breaks cost him any chance to respond.

Wynn and Lewis remained consistent across the board, but neither had a single station fast enough to challenge for the win, settling into third and fourth as the race spread out late.

Luke Penny did not finish after leaving the SkiErg early.

World Championship Qualification

Unlike the 4 HYROX Majors, the 3 Regional Championships only have one qualification spot. Since James Kelly already qualified in Phoenix, the spot rolled down to Dexter Buchanan.
