The Ultimate Alpha Warrior

Ultimate Alpha Warrior, the highly anticipated hybrid event, unfolded near San Antonio, Texas, on October 7, 2023. In a statement, Alpha Warrior described the event as a unique fusion of obstacles, strength, and endurance, promising an extraordinary showdown between two teams, each comprised of three men and three women, all vying for the top spot and the title of Ultimate Alpha Warrior.

The two team captains, Ryan Kent, and Layne Mayerstein had an online draft to divvy up 6 men and 6 women for each team.

Ryan’s team were the favorites going into the event having landed a few OCR and Hybrid Champions in the draft.

Team Mayerstein’s team consisted of Stephanie Williams, Noah Palicia, Cole Schwartz, Allison Outlaw, Carly Wopat, and Justin Kline.

Team Kent was made of up Kris Rugloski, Rylan Schadegg, Veejay Jones, Jarrett Newby, Meg Jacoby, and Tiffanie Sawatzke.

Here was the test of The Ultimate Alpha Warrior:

All 6 women raced against each other first, followed by a men’s race about 90 minutes later.

All participants start by wearing a Brute Force bag. (60lb/40lb).

The athletes need to keep the bag with them through the first 5 elements.

  1. Ski Erg – 50 Calories
  2. Barrel Obstacle
  3. Lunges – 50
  4. Sidewinder Obstacle
  5. 1st Pit (5 Up and Over, 40 Clean and Over, 5 Up and Over): Last to leave the pit finishes in 6th place. Competitors drop the Brute Force Bag before heading to Echo Bike.
  6. Echo Bike – 50 Calories
  7. Pipe Bomb Obstacle
  8. Wall Balls (10’/9′) (20lbs/14lbs)
  9. Pit Burpees – 50: The last to leave the pit takes the fifth-place spot.
  10. Radial Rings Obstacle.
  11. Pit (5 Box Jump Overs, 40 Calorie Rower, 5 Box Jump Over): Last to leave claiming fourth place.
  12. Camelback Obstacle
  13. Tank Push – 50 Yards Last to finish secures the third-place spot.
  14. Spider Wall Obstacle
  15. Pit Deadball Overs – 150/100/80/50M 100/80/50/40W Last to finish is 3rd place.
  16. Yoke Carry/Disk Tug Of War: Men 446lb or Women 306lb Yoke Carry. The winner of the Disk Tug of War gets a 10-second lead into Alcatraz.
  17. Alcatraz Obstacle: Get through Alcatraz and run 100 meters to Ring The Bell.

Race 1 was won by Kris Rugloski and Team Kent took the win in points.

Allison – 4

Stephanie- 1

Race 2 was also dominated by Team Kent with Rylan Schadegg winning talking the overall victory.

Veejay – 8
Cole – 6
Noah – 4
Newby – 2
Justin – 1

Kris and Rylan both won $5,000 and $7,000 was shared by the winning team and their captain ($1,000 each).
