How the Race Unfolded

Roncevic controlled the first five stations, posting the fastest sled push (2:10) among the top finishers and building a gap on the field. But coming out of farmers carry, Sean Noble had quietly taken the lead. His 1:09 farmers carry, fastest in the Elite 15 field, put him five seconds ahead of Ronco.

Then came lunges.

Noble’s 3:13 on the sandbag lunges gave back everything he’d built. Roncevic ran a 3:00. Rich Ryan ran a 2:53. Coming out of lunges, Ryan was just half a second behind Ronco and passed him a short time later. Ronco passed Rich again and went into wall balls a couple of seconds ahead.

Rich and Ronco both threw the first 40 wall balls with a couple of no reps, but then Rich began getting several controversial no reps that had him calling for a head judge at one point.

Roncevic finished strong, crossing the line just one second behind his world record.

James Kelly, who came into wall balls all the way back in 6th, about 20 wall balls behind the leaders, finished with only 2 no reps and came across in 2nd

Ryan went from a position to win to barely holding third on the final station.

World Championship Qualification

The top three at each Major earn automatic qualification for the 2026 World Championships in Sweden. Roncevic won the Hamburg Major earlier this season and was already qualified, so his spot rolls down to fourth.

Qualified for Worlds from Phoenix:

  • James Kelly (2nd)
  • Rich Ryan (3rd)
