HYROX has introduced Regional Championships for the 2025 and 2026 season. The events combine Elite 15 championship races with a full weekend of Open-weight divisions that provide the only Open-weight pathway to the Age Group World Championships. This structure creates one coordinated qualifying weekend for both Elite and Age Group athletes.
Elite 15 Championship Races
Each Regional Championship begins with four Elite 15 races in the evening.
The divisions are:
• Men’s Singles
• Women’s Singles
• Men’s Doubles
• Women’s Doubles
These are the only championship races of the weekend. The winners of each race qualify directly for the PUMA HYROX World Championships. Only invited Elite athletes compete in these races.
Open Weights for the Remainder of the Weekend
The rest of the Regional Championship weekend consists entirely of Open-weight divisions. There are no Pro-weight races at Regionals.
Racing Open at Regionals serves two purposes. Athletes compete for Regional Age Group titles, and they race for qualifying spots to the Age Group World Championships. This is the only time all season when athletes can qualify for Age Group Worlds using Open weights. All other season-long Age Group qualifying is based on Pro-weight results.
Region Based Eligibility Requirements
HYROX requires athletes to compete only within the region tied to their nationality. The rules apply to both Elite and Open competitors.
• Athletes must hold citizenship or nationality within the region where they register
• A valid passport or national ID must be presented on site
• Temporary visas, tourist status, residency permits or short-term documents do not meet the requirement
• Athletes with dual nationality may choose one region but may enter only one Regional Championship per season
• All members of a Doubles or Relay team must meet the same eligibility criteria
• Incorrect or false information may lead to removal from the event and a season ban
One Coordinated Release
HYROX will open registration for all three Regional Championships at the same moment using a unified global launch.
• Americas: 11 AM local time EST
• EMEA: 2 PM local time GMT
• APAC: 6 PM local time AEST
This replaces staggered early access or region-specific release dates.
What This Means For Athletes
The Regional Championships create one standardized weekend for qualification. Elite athletes race for direct entry to the World Championships. Open athletes race for Age Group titles and qualifying spots using the weights they typically compete with. Every competitor must register within their correct region and provide identification on site.
The new format establishes a single, clear pathway for progression at both levels of the HYROX season.
