HYROX Hong Kong Women’s Results
The First APAC Major delivered the first ever APAC Major winner with Joanna Wietrzyk taking victory.
The young Aussie first competed in HYROX this past summer in Australia. Less than six months later she has a 3rd place and now a victory against some of the best female athletes in the field.
Initially, Joanna was a few seconds behind the Hybrid Engine duo of Lauren Weeks and Lauren Griffith. However Joanna took the lead coming out the sled push and never lost it.
Former World Champion Lauren Weeks pushed Joanna for most of the race, however Joanna was able to gradually increase her lead and entered the wall balls with a 47 second lead. Even with Lauren chasing her, the lead was more than enough to allow Joanna to complete her 100 wall balls and take the podium.
Further down the field, the battle for third place was tight with less than 30 seconds between 3rdand 6th place heading into the burpees. During this station Kate Davey was able to overtake Lauren Griffith and Ida Mathilde Rubens Steensgaard to move up to 3rd.
Kate and Ida then engaged in a race within a race for that final podium spot. In the back half of the race, Kate was able to gradually increase her lead to earn a well deserved first major podium spot.
Both Ida and Lauren Griffith did receive their just deserts for their efforts. Due to roll downs they join Kate in earning a place for the World Championships in Chicago in June 2025.
Well done to all athletes who made the first Hong Kong Major race a success.

HYROX Hong Kong Men’s Results
James Kelly was able to make it two wins out of two for APAC athletes in Hong Kong, finally earning himself a Major victory.
The early stages of the race were incredibly close with several lead changes across the first four stations.
Heading into the rowers, Tim Wenisch and James had established a slight lead on the competition, hitting the Ergs side by side. Tim left the station with a 5 second lead on the Aussie Star.
James then took the lead heading into the farmers carry and extended his lead at the lunges to set up an epic showdown at the wall balls.
At the wall balls, James was able to press his 16 second advantage over Tim to finish in a time of 55.16 to take the APAC Major Crown.
Meanwhile, Tim took second place and will no doubt be happy to once again be at the upper echelon of the sport.
As we have perhaps come to expect, the rest of the field was subject to a super tight finish. Graham Halliday, Pelayo Fernandez Menedez and Rylan Schadegg being amongst the athletes in the hunt for the final podium spot.
In the end, Graham was once again able to show his mental fortitude in the wall balls. Graham overcame a 30 second deficit to take third place and book his place in Chicago.
Meanwhile Pelayo was able to hold on against a late challenge from Jonathon Wynn to secure fourth place and also book his place at the worlds.
What an awesome evening of racing in Hong Kong.
