GORUCK Leadership Change

Breaking News – Jimi Letchford out as President at GORUCK.

James (Jimi) Letchford joined CrossFit in 2008 and was the head of business development and partnership until 2017. He was then in charge of CrossFit International from 2017 to 2019.

According to a Morning Chalkup article, he was with Dave Castro when the WOD Hero of Chad was completed for the first time back in December of 2018.

He began advising GORUCK in April of 2021 and was brought on full-time in June 2022. He was named President in June of last year.

In January of this year, GORUCK were announced as “the new Official Apparel and Footwear Provider of CrossFit and the CrossFit Games, as well as the official uniform provider for athletes who qualify and compete at the Games.”

This afternoon, Jimi posted an announcement that he has taken on a new job: “I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Operations Officer at 6th ANGLICO, Force Headquarters Group, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.”

Although Jimi’s LinkedIn page still lists GORUCK as one of his current employers, we have been told that he stepped down. One source told us he has been gone from GORUCK for “at least a couple of weeks.”

GORUCK founder Jason McCarthy remains as CEO. While Jimi’s departure from GORUCK may raise questions, it remains uncertain whether this will have any impact on this week’s CrossFit Games.
