HYROX Vienna Women’s Results

In the HYROX Vienna Women’s Race, Lauren Weeks of the USA made her usual strong start but found an early challenger in Germany’s Jennifer Nikolaus, who edged ahead in the initial run. However, Weeks quickly regained her lead during the ski and first run, closely followed by fellow American Megan Jacoby and Vivian Tafuto. Despite a brief lead by Tafuto, Weeks surged ahead, with Jacoby overtaking Tafuto soon after. Nikolaus faced a significant setback on the ski, dropping to 11th place.

As the race progressed through the sled push and subsequent runs, Weeks widened her lead, despite Jacoby’s minor mishap of overextending her sled push. Viola Oberländer of Germany made impressive gains during this phase, entering the top ranks alongside Jacoby and Tafuto.

Weeks continued to dominate in the sled pull, maintaining a significant lead over her closest competitors, who remained tightly packed in the race for the following positions. Oberländer, Jacoby, and Tafuto were neck and neck, with Kris Rugloski of the USA making a significant climb in the rankings.

The burpee broad jump section saw Weeks extend her lead further, with Jacoby and Tafuto following. The rowing segment didn’t shake up the leaderboard much, but it highlighted the intense battle for qualification spots for the World Championships, with Weeks, Jacoby, and others firmly holding their positions.

In the final stages, including the farmer’s carry and lunges, Weeks continued to outpace the world record, with the other athletes jostling for podium spots and qualification. The race concluded with Weeks setting a new world record and securing a decisive victory, followed by Jacoby and Linda Meier. Oberländer and Tafuto secured their spots for the World Championships, with Mikaela Norman and Rugloski closely contesting the remaining positions.

In the “Holy Sh*t – What A Competitor” department, Lauren Griffith fainted during the race. Remarkably, she recovered, insisted on continuing to the race officials, and ultimately crossed the finish line with a time of 1:18:34.

HYROX Vienna – Who Qualified And Other Takeaways

After a dominant showing at the first two Majors of the season, many favored Meg Jacoby to continue her streak. But, Lauren Weeks responded with an astonishing time of 58:03 for the victory and a new World Record.

Multiple mishaps in the men’s race caused chaos in the field. First, multiple athletes were misdirected off of the Ski. Next, Alex Roncevic and Michael Sandbach were in an intense battle for the lead but were stonewalled when they got to the rowers and none would turn on. Sandbach subsequently pulled out of the race in frustration.

Roncevic overcame all of the madness and had a dominant victory in an adjusted time of 54:28. Despite the mishaps, he was clearly the best athlete on the day.

Viola Oberländer and Vivian Tafuto finished 4th and 5th respectively. This secures their spot for World Championships.

On the men’s side Pelayo Menendez Fernandez, Tim Wenisch and Tomas Tvrdik finished 2-4 and all secured their WC spot. Notably, with a 5th place finish Graham Halliday also secured his spot at the next Major in D.C.
