We are a little over 4 months out from the DEKA World Championships in Dallas, Texas and competitors have been getting their DEKA marks at affiliate gyms all over the U.S. and abroad and at the larger DEKA FIT events. For some, DEKA provides an opportunity to push outside of their comfort zones, start new fitness journeys, or just have some fun with friends.
For the Elites, every event is another step toward the World Championships and a chance to take the title, the golden RAM, some cash, and major bragging rights. Then, there is the growing group that is out there, committed to fine-tuning their STRONG, MILE, and FIT skills and strategies in the hopes of qualifying for World Champs and taking home an Age Group win. I am a proud member of this group and, regardless of the Global Leaderboard standings at the end of September, I can’t wait for all of the action in Dallas.
The Top 20 in each AG will get a bid to the World Championships. Let’s take a look at the current Age Group Top Ten lists (as of July 23, 2023 standings on the Global Leaderboard) and see if anyone looks like they might be in the running for the Triple Crown in December.
The DEKA leaderboard doesn’t distinguish between Elite and AG. Knowing this, we’ve taken the Top 20 on the OVERALL leaderboard in ANY of the 3 events (STRONG, MILE, FIT). out of Triple Crown contention. (For example, Lauren Weeks)

Do athletes have to race in age group to qualify for age group in Deka fit? Can you qualify for age group if you have only ran elite, but your time is in the top 20 for your age group?
